L’émergence de Ruben Semedo avec le Sporting Porugal
Formé au Sporting Portugal, Ruben Semedo s’est affirmé comme l’un des éléments-clés du club lisboète cette saison. Le défenseur central de 23 ans, passé par le Festival International Espoirs 2014, a disputé 28 matchs toutes compétitions confondues avec le Sporting Portugal, tous en tant que titulaire. Le natif d’Amadora a notamment eu l’occasion d’engranger de l’expérience sur la scène continentale en disputant la Ligue des Champions pour la première fois de sa carrière contre des formations réputées telles que le Real Madrid ou le Borussia Dortmund.
Signe de son nouveau statut, ses dirigeants ont prolongé son contrat en mars dernier jusqu’en 2022. Désormais solidement installé dans la défense du Sporting, Semedo espère certainement maintenir ce niveau de forme afin d’intégrer la sélection nationale du Portugal dans un avenir proche. Alors que les défenseurs centraux de la Selecção se font de plus en plus vieillissants, une opportunité pourrait bien être donnée rapidement à Semedo...
