World Cup 2018 : Great start for Costa Rica and Ronald Matarrita

Costa Rica have enjoyed a perfect start to the fifth and final round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Los Ticos earned a 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago thanks to goals from Cristian Bolanos and Ronaldo Matarrita, who took part in the Toulon Tournament 2015.

Matarrita has ensured the win as he finished off a counter-attack during the additional time. It’s the 2nd goal in 16 international caps for the New York City FC player.

The three best teams of the CONCACAF qualifying will secure a World Cup 2018 spot while the fourth-placed team will play inter-confederation play-offs against an Asian team.
