Twelve years after leaving Brazil, Diego Ribas has returned to his native country this summer. The Toulon Tournament 2002 winner with Brazil has joined Flamengo from Fenerbahçe and it seems to be the right choice for the Brazil international (34 caps).
Until now, Diego took part in five games with Flamengo and has lost any of them (4 wins, 1 draw). Also, the Juventus former player has played a key role in these results. For his first game with the Rio de Janeiro-based club, Diego has scored against Gremio (2-1) on August 21. One week later, he netted a goal against Chapecoense (3-1). Then, the 31-year old distinguished himself against Vitoria (2-1) as he delivered a wonderful assist.
His aim now is to help Flamengo to clinch their first Brazilian championship since 2009. Diego and his teammates are currently second of the league after 25 games.
