They did it ! Brazil secured their first men's Olympic football gold medal as they beat Germany (1-1, 5-4 pen) in the final. A number of Toulon Tournament former players played a key role in this success.
The centre-backs Marquinhos and Rodrigo Caio (Toulon Tournament 2014 winners) were solid as Brazil have only conceded one goal during all the competition. They were helped by the left-back Douglas Santos (Toulon Tournament 2013) who was reliable defensively and offensively.
The attacking midfielder Luan distinguished himself too with Brazil. The Gremio player made a huge impact as he netted three goals during the Rio Olympics. Meanwhile, Rafinha didn’t shine due to lack of playing time but the FC Barcelona midfielder helped Brazil to win the title as he scored during the penalty shootout in the final against Germany.
