After the England brilliant win over Guinea (7-1), Gareth Southgate heaped praise on his left-back Ben Chilwell. However, the England U21 head coach insists that there is a long way to go for the 19-year-old.
“Ben is composed in the possession of the ball, he has also a good understanding of the game. He is at a very early stage of his career. He has a couple of matches with Leicester first team : so, he hasn’t so much experience of first team football. I like his mentality. I think he has a desire to be a top player. However, he had just a smooth loan spell in the Championship with Huddersfield and just a couple of games with Leicester. So, there is still a long way to go for him. I know the speculations about where he might move but it’s very early for him. He has to keep learning and improve.”
