After Ivory Coast, another African nation confirms its participation to the Toulon Tournament 2017 as Mali will take part in our competition for the second year in a row.
Last year, Mali were knocked out in the group stage (one win, one draw, two losses) but they have produced some promising displays throughout the competition.
So, it was not surprising to see some Malian players burst onto the scene few months after the Toulon Tournament 2016. We can talk about Lassana Coulibaly, the Bastia midfielder, who forced his way into the Mali senior squad over the last weeks. Meanwhile, Adama Niane distinguished himself with Troyes as he is the current Ligue 2 top scorer. Let’s also not forget Diadie Samassekou, the Red Bull Salzburg starlet who earned his first international cap with the Mali senior squad on October.
Once again, Mali will come in the south of France with a promising squad. Mali have produced some fine performances at the international level over the last years. In 2015, the Mali U17’s squad won the African Cup of Nations and they finished runners-up of the World Cup U17 the same year. We will probably see some of these World Cup runners-up in the south of France between May 29th and June 10th…
