Ruben Semedo burst onto the scene at Sporting Lisbon over the last months. The 23-year-old centre-back, who took part in the Toulon Tournament 2014, has played 28 games in all competitions this season with his childhood club, all as a starter. The Amadora-born has particularly discovered the Champion’s League during the current campaign, playing against top teams like Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.
Semedo has been rewarded by the Liga NOS side for his good form as he has signed a contract extension in March that will keep him at Lisbon until 2022. After establishing himself as a regular for Sporting Lisbon, Semedo now probably wants to push on and put himself in the frame for a potential call-up to the Portugal’s squad as the Seleççao’s defenders are getting older…
