Vincent Marcel, who played the Toulon Tournament this summer with France, will not forget the Champions League third round qualifier played on Wednesday between his side Nice and Ajax Amsterdam.
The 20-year-old midfielder came off the bench after 69 minutes and ten minutes later he scored the equalizer (2-2) which took the French side through to the Champions League play-off round.
At the end of the game, the Nice coach Lucien Favre hailed his young midfielder. “This evening, there must be snow in Nice: Marcel scored with his right foot [laughs] ! That's just to make fun of him, because he's got great qualities. […] He's been in the Nice youth academy and he's the one who scores the equaliser. It's extraordinary”, he said.
As a reminder, Marcel played the Toulon Tournament 2017 with France. Despite the group stage exit faced by his national team, the OGC Nice player distinguished himself and has notably scored against Ivory Coast.
