In 2016, Takuma Asano and Yosuke Ideguchi were playing the Toulon Tournament in the Southern France. One year later, the two Japanese players became national heroes as they scored both in a decisive World Cup 2018 qualifier against Australia (2-0) on this Thursday (see the video below).
Japan and Australia were separated by just one point before this crucial game. After being played in by Nagatomo, Takuma Asano netted the opener just before the half time. It was the 3rd goal scored in 12 international caps by the VFB Stuttgart new boy.
In the second half, Yosuke Ideguchi got his name on the scoresheet too thanks to a stunning strike into the top corner ! It should be noted that it was the first goal scored for Japan by the 21-year-old midfielder.
