He’s stepping up to the next level ! At only 18, Edimar Ribeiro da Costa commonly known as Juninho burst onto the South American scene with Sport Recife.
The young Brazilian midfielder came off the bench during the Copa Sudamericana quarter final (the South American equivalent of the Europa League) played against Colombian side Junior (0-2).
This first appearance in the Copa Sudamericana caps the Juninho’s emergence over the last months. The Sport Recife starlet made the headlines few months ago as he scored the winner against Joinville in a Brazilian Cup game (2-1). Then, he made his Brazilian league debut on 14th May against Ponte Preta (0-4), only few days before taking part to the Toulon Tournament 2017 with Brazil.
After his spell in France with his national team, Juninho has continued his development with Sport Recife as he has already featured in 13 Brazilian league games. Promising !
