During the Toulon Tournament 2015, Walid El Karti and Achraf Bencharki distinguished themselves as the midfielder has been named player of the tournament while the forward has finished as the competition’s joint top-scorer.
Two years later, the Moroccan duo helped Wydad Casablanca to clinch the second African Champion’s League title in their history !
After the 1-1 draw earned against Al-Ahly during the first leg played in Egypt, Wydad Casablanca claimed a 1-0 win front of their fans in the second leg on this Saturday.
Achraf Bencharki, who netted the equalizer in the first leg, shone again in this second leg as he assisted on the game winner netted by Walid El Karti after 69 minutes.
Thanks to the third goal scored by the 23-year-old midfielder in this Champions League campaign, Wydad Casablanca are crowned African champions for the first time since 1992 !
