That’s unusual to see an African player joining a North American club especially when we are talking about a youngster.
Koffi Dakoi is the exception to the rule as the Ivoire Académie product has signed for Tigres UANL ! The five-time Mexican champions have decided to lure the 18-year-old midfielder to the state of Nuevo León after his performances during the Toulon Tournament 2017 and the Francophone Games this summer.
Dakoi, who will become the second African player in the Tigres history, seems excited by this challenge. “That’s not a common destination for an Ivorian or even for an African youngster but I have no fear”, he said to Sport Mania.
Signed initially as part of the Tigres reserve team, Dakoi is aiming to step up quickly to the first team and has expressed his ambition to join a European side in the future. “I’m very delighted to go to Mexico. That’s a great challenge but I don’t want to stop there. I have some dreams like playing in a European league for example. Mexico is great but my aim is to play in Europe. I want to become a player with a worldwide reputation.”
it's clear that Dakoi does not lack ambition !
