Club Brugge are currently at the top of the Belgian league with a five-point-margin over second-placed Charleroi. Meanwhile, they boast also the best attack as well as the best defense in the league. One player symbolizes the Blauw en Zwart’s dominance : the captain Ruud Vormer.
The 29-year-old Dutch midfielder is in the form of his life. Vormer has already delivered 11 assists in 15 Pro League games this season and nobody has registered more assists than him in the Belgian top-flight this season.
The Feyenoord Rotterdam former player is a good assist provider but he is also capable of scoring great goals. The Dutchman has found the net 3 times this season and grabbed the headlines on the last week-end thanks to his acrobatic volley against Waasland-Beveren (3-0).
The Vormer’s consistency could be rewarded as he is the bookmakers' favourite for the Belgian Golden Ball award, which is given on January to the best player in the Pro League.
After making a name for himself in Belgium, Vormer is now waiting for an international recognition : the Club Brugge player has represented Netherlands in the youth categories, for example during the Toulon Tournament 2008, but he has never featured for the senior team…
