Few people would have been brave enough to predict that scenario! Kawaski Frontale come from four points back to claim the first J-League title in their history.
Kawasaki Frontale won their two last league games against Urawa Reds (1-0) as well as Omiya Ardija (5-0) while Kashima Antlers were held to a draw two times meaning that Kawasaki Frontale finished at the top of the Japanese league on goal difference (+39 against +22 for Kashima).
This trophy is the first title won by Ryota Oshima. The 24-year-old midielder, who took part in the Toulon Tournament 2016, helped his side to make history as he played 25 league games this season. He has notably distinguished himself with a stunning strike against Yokohama Marinos (3-0) on September.
However, the Japan international (1 cap) will not have the time to celebrate this as he has been called up to the Japanese national team for the upcoming East Asian Cup (9-16 December).
