Crowned champions of Chile this month for the 32nd time in the history, Colo Colo are already focused on the next season. The legendary Chilean side has already secured its first signing in this transfer window : Brayan Cortes, a goalkeeper who played the Toulon Tournament 2014.
According to the local media La Tercera, the Colo Colo’s plan is simple : they want to develop Brayan Cortes into the next Claudio Bravo. The latter burst onto the scene at Colo Colo before playing for famous Europeans clubs like FC Barcelona and Manchester City. Bravo has also established himself as the Chile first-choice goalkeeper for many years.
In other words, the Macul-based club hope that Cortes will take the same path as his famous predecessor. Aged only 22, Cortes boast a great potential. Despite his young age, the Colo Colo new boy has already played the Copa Libertadores, the Copa Sudamericana as well as around forty Primera Division games with his former club Deportes Iquique. Meanwhile, Cortes has been called up to Chile senior squad during the World Cup 2018 qualifiers.
Can he meet the expectations ? The Chilean Champions seem to have a lot of faith in him as they offered him a five-year-contract…
