The Toulon Tournament gives us the opportunity to discover new football talent from anywhere in the world. During the next edition (from 26th May to 9th June 2018), we’ll keep a close eye on Togo as the African nation will compete in the Festival for the first time in their history.
The new Togolese generation will be led by Jean-Paul Abalo, a former legend of the Togo senior national team. The ex-Amiens defender has earned 67 international caps with Togo and has captained Les Eperviers during the World Cup 2006. The young Togolese players will without doubt benefit from his international experience.
As a reminder, the Toulon Tournament 2018 will feature 12 teams placed in 3 four-team groups. The three top teams of each group as well as the best second placed team (of all the groups) will advance to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, the other teams will play another game to determine their final ranking in the competition.
Except Togo, Turkey as well as Japan have already confirmed their presence at the upcoming Toulon Tournament. The other participating teams will be unveiled soon….
