28th May 2015 : during the Matchday 1 of the Toulon Tournament 2015, an unknown Moroccan forward distinguished himself by scoring two goals against England (3-3). This player is none other than Achraf Bencharki who has eventually finished as the tournament’s joint-top scorer.
Few years after his heroics in the South of France, Bencharki has been involved in a record deal.
During the current transfer window, the Morocco new boy has moved from Wydad Casablanca to the Saudi side Al Hilal in a $5M deal. The fee is the biggest ever received by a Moroccan club !
The two times Asian Champions League winners have decided to splash out that amount on the 23-year-old forward after his impressive performances with Wydad Casablanca, notably on the continental scene.
The Moroccan giants clinched the second African Champion’s League title in their history after beating the Egyptian side Al Ahly on November. Bencharki was pivotal to this success as he scored five goals during the ACL campaign. He has notably found the net during the final’s first leg.
