In addition to Japan, another Asian nation confirmed its presence at the Toulon Tournament 2018 which will be held from the 26th May to 9th June. Four years after their last participation, the South Koreans are back in the south of France !
A number of former South Korea internationals played the Toulon Tournament : we think especially about the legendary goalkeeper Lee Woon-Jae, the third most capped player in the South Korea history. He played the Toulon Tournament in 1995 and then earned 132 international caps with the senior national team. He was notably part of the South Korea that reached the World Cup 2002 semi-finals.
As a reminder, the Toulon Tournament 2018 will feature 12 teams placed in 3 four-team groups. The three top teams of each group as well as the best second placed team (of all the groups) will advance to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, the other teams will play another game to determine their final ranking in the competition.
Except Japan and South Korea, three teams confirmed their presence at the upcoming Festival International Espoirs : Turkey, Togo and France. The other participating teams will be unveiled soon….
