Only few months after taking part in the Toulon Tournament 2017, Chris Mepham burst onto the international scene with the Wales senior national team. The 20-year-old centre-back earned his first cap on this Thursday during the China Cup game against China (6-0).
The young Welshman, who played 15 Championship games with Brentford this season, came off the bench after 70 minutes as he replaced the Tottenham defender Ben Davies.
Thanks to this first cap, Mepham becomes the first Brentford reserve team graduate to make a full international appearance. A huge reward for Mepham who has shown a constant improvement over the last months.
