Aidy Boothroyd (England head coach) : « We deserved to win »

England head coach Aidy Boothroyd shared his thoughts after the 0-0 draw against Mexico.

“I think Mexico are really a good team. We like play them because they test us. We’ve got to a stage now where both countries have doing very well in the worldwide football.

I thought it was a really good game tonight. I felt we were the better team, we deserved to win only by a “poquito” !

Both teams were very good in the building-up but perhaps they didn’t have the final pass, the final shot to win the game. Both teams have had good opportunities.

I’m really pleased with the new faces included in the squad. Some of the players are two years younger and come from different teams. Eddie Nketiah was excellent tonight and Lukas Nmecha has never played U21 football before.  We have to finish very strong because Mexico have got two goals more than we have. They are atop of the group at that moment.”
