Thanks to their 1-0 win over Turkey, the Canadians claimed the top spot of the group C. After the game, the Canada co-head coach Mauro Biello shared his thoughts.
“It’s a big result for us, we brought a lot of young players to the Maurice Revello Tournament. We’ve had two very good results against two very good teams. For us, it’s to continue to improve and continue to give experience to our young players.
We have to believe in our qualities, to believe in our work. If you believe in that, you can make the unexpected. This is the mindset. Right now, we’ve got two results but this is not finished yet. We need to complete the group stage against Japan and move to the next round.
We knew we were playing against very good teams. We wanted to come here and make sure that we get some results and gain some experience. There has been a great team spirit, the group is together for a week, the staff is new, so we want to put in a culture, an identity, this is what we are working on. The players are reacting, fighting. Credit to them !”
