Lors du dernier match du groupe B, la France l’emporte logiquement face à une équipe togolaise une nouvelle fois réduite à dix (2-0). Mais cette victoire bien maîtrisée ne permet pas aux Français de se hisser en demi-finale à cause du succès de l’Ecosse contre la Corée du Sud (2-1). De ce fait, c’est l’Angleterre qui hérite de la place du meilleur deuxième.
