The World Cup 2018 takes place from 14th June to 15th July. It should be noted that 81 players who took part in the Maurice Revello Tournament compete in the World Cup. Throughout the competition, we will take look at their performances !
Belgium-Panama : 3-0
For their World Cup opener, Les Diables Rouges outclassed Panama. Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco made his World Cup debut during this game, five years after playing the Maurice Revello Tournament 2013. The Dalian Yifan played 74 minutes.
Tunisia-England : 1-2
Jordan Pickford and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Toulon Tournament 2016 winners, made their World Cup debut. The Everton keeper played the whole game while the Chelsea midfielder came off the bench after 80 minutes.
Colombia-Japan : 1-2
Santiago Arias, Davinson Sanchez, Radamel Falcao, José Izquierdo, James Rodriguez, Maya Yoshida, Makoto Hasebe, Shinji Kagawa, Yuya Osako, Keisuke Honda et Shinji Okazaki : these eleven Maurice Revello Tournament former players took part in the game between Colombia and Japan.
Some of them made the headlines : Kagawa netted the opener on a penalty while Osako scored the winner for the Samuraï Blue after 73 minutes.
Poland-Senegal : 1-2
Les Lions de la Teranga became the first African nation to clinch a win in this World Cup. Kalidou Koulibaly has been in the Senegal starting XI while Alfred N’Diaye appeared on the pitch after the hour mark.
Russia-Egypt : 3-1
Ahmed Hegazy and Marwan Mohsen started the game but couldn’t help Egypt to avoid a second loss in as many games…
Portugal-Morocco : 1-0
Cristiano Ronaldo stole the show again ! Thanks to a winning header, the Portuguese star fired his country to a crucial win. The Maurice Revello Tournament 2003 winner took his tally to 85 goals scored for Portugal. Legendary !
