Xande Silva, Slattery, Woodman… un week-end de première en FA Cup !
Le troisième tour de la FA Cup disputé ce week-end, et qui a vu l’entrée en lice des clubs de Premier League, a été l’occasion pour plusieurs joueurs passés par le Tournoi Maurice Revello de connaître une grande première.
C’est notamment le cas de Callum Slattery. Vainqueur du Tournoi Maurice Revello 2017 avec l’Angleterre, le milieu de 19 ans a effectué ses débuts professionnels avec Southampton lors du match nul contre Derby County (2-2). Aux côtés de James Ward-Prowse, autre vainqueur du Tournoi Maurice Revello (en 2016), Slattery a disputé l’intégralité de la rencontre. « Je suis satisfait de la prestation de Callum. Il m’a montré qu’il était toujours une alternative pour moi », a commenté Ralph Hasenhüttl, le coach des Saints.

Plus tôt, Alexandre Silva dit "Xande Silva" a connu sa première titularisation avec West Ham. Recruté cet été en provenance du Vitoria Guimaraes, l’attaquant portugais de 21 ans, aperçu au Tournoi Maurice Revello 2016, a aidé les Hammers à vaincre Birmingham City (2-0).
Enfin, Freddie Woodman, élu meilleur gardien du Tournoi Maurice Revello 2018, a disputé son tout premier match de la saison avec Newcastle lors du match nul contre Blackburn (1-1). « Il a bien géré la plupart des ballons dans sa surface et a produit une performance solide. Il mérite une nouvelle opportunité en équipe première », a jugé le quotidien local The Chronicle.
