Joueur complet, irréprochable dans son placement, il a apporté à la défense brésilienne son impressionante protection de balle et une très bonne couverture. En phase offensive, ses longues relances ont placé les attaquants brésiliens en excellente position à plusieurs reprises, alors que son jeu court rythmait la possession de balle de la Seleçao.
