The East Asian Cup fixture between China and Japan was the opportunity for several Maurice Revello Tournament graduates to earn their first international cap at the senior level.
The East Asian Cup held this month features Japan, China, South Korea and Hong-Kong. Each of these participating teams takes part in the competition with a squad composed mainly of members playing in the domestic leagues.
Like during the Copa America on June, the Japanese head coach Hajime Moriyasu uses this East Asian Cup as a test for the new generation. Several Maurice Revello Tournament graduates made their debut with the Samurai Blue during the opener against China (2-1). Daiki Hashioka, Tsukasa Morishima, Keita Endo, Kyosuke Tagawa and Yuki Soma (It should be noted also that another player seen at the Tournament made his debut with his national team during this game, the Chinese midfielder Shangyuan Yang).

The young Japanese players benefit from the youth policy adopted by the Japanese head coach Hajime Moriyasu. « These players could become the core members of the team at the Tokyo Olympics, FIFA World Cup Qatar, and beyond. Therefore, I want them to gain experience now and utilise the experience to achieve greater success in the future », he said ahead of the beginning of the East Asian Cup.
Considering these comments, it would not be surprising to see other Maurice Revello Tournaments graduates making their international debut in the upcoming days.
