Despite an efficient Gervinho, Ivory Coast go home.
L’ailier de l’AS Roma aura été le joueur-clé des Eléphants. Face au Japon, il donne la victoire à son équipe grâce à une tête victorieuse. Lors du match suivant, il réduit le score face à la Colombie après avoir passé en revue la défense adverse. Enfin face à la Grèce, il délivre une passe décisive pour Bony qui égalise.
Cependant, malgré les efforts de Gervinho, la Côte d’Ivoire n’accède pas au tour suivant.

Ivory Coast was near to access to the second round of the World Cup. But, Greece scored in the added-time and it means the end of the competition for the African team. If the Ivory Coast’s performance is disappointing, we can’t say the same thing of the Gervinho’s appearances during this World Cup.
The AS Roma winger, who took part in the Festival International Espoirs in 2007, was a key player for the Elephants. Against Japan, he gives the win to his side thanks to a winning header. During the next game against Colombia, he scores after a brilliant move. At the end, against Greece, he gives an assist to Bony who equalizes.
However, despite Gervinho’s strivings, Ivory Coast leaves the World Cup.
