This is obviously a moment to remember for the Club America fans ! After being held to a 0-0 draw in the final first leg, Las Águilas have been crowned Mexican champions as they earned a 2-0 win over Cruz Azul in the second leg played at the legendary Estadio Azteca.
Thanks to this success, the Mexico-based club became the country’s most successful side with 13 Liga MX titles won, one more than Chivas Guadalajara.
Diego Lainez has contributed to this historic win. The Maurice Revello Tournament 2018 best player has been decisive during the semi-finals against Pumas UNAM as he scored during the first leg (1-1) as well as during the second leg (6-1).
Only aged 18, the Mexican attacking midfielder has enjoyed a successful year. Except the Maurice Revello Tournament best player award and the Liga MX won with Club America, Lainez has also made his international debut with Mexico during a friendly played against Uruguay (1-4) on September.
