Named breakthrough player of the Maurice Revello Tournament 2019, Vitor Ferreira has played his first minutes at the professional level with FC Porto this week. A well-deserved achievement for the 19-year-old midfielder.
His talent is obvious, his inclusion into the FC Porto first-team was only a matter of time. Now it’s done. After signing a contract extension until 2024, Vitor Ferreira, also called Vitinha, has been promoted to the Dragoes first-team over the last days in order to compensate for the Bruno Costa’s departure during this winter transfer window.
Bruno Costa's move to Portimonense, originally a loan is now a permanent deal. FC Porto retain a 50% stake in the player, as well as an option to re-sign him. Vítor Ferreira has been promoted to Porto's main squad in his place.

While the FC Porto coach Sergio Conceiçao described Ferreira as a “quality player” at the end of the game, the Portuguese youngster couldn’t hide his happiness front of the journalists. “When I have renewed my contract with FC Porto, I said that It was the beginning of a dream. It sounds as a cliché but I have no words to describe this moment. I’m working for that for years !”, he said.
The latter has enjoyed an astonishing rise over the last months. Winner of the Youth League (the equivalent of the Champions League for the U19) last season, Vitor Ferreira has also impressed few weeks later with his national team as he has been named breakthrough player of the Maurice Revello Tournament 2019. He has also been named in the competition’s best XI.

Aware of the huge potential of their young midfielder, the FC Porto chiefs didn’t forget to include a €40M buyout clause when they have extended the Ferreira’s contract on November. A way for the Dragoes to protect themselves from potential clubs willing to lure one of the Portugal’s best young talents.
