Tanikawa, King, Tabe... the Sud Ladies Cup graduates burst onto the international scene

Every international break is an opportunity for several talents seen at the Sud Ladies Cup to make their senior international debut. The last few days have been no exception. Here's the lowdown.

Wakaba Goto, Haruna Tabata, Haruka Osawa, Toko Koga, Momoko Tanikawa and Kotono Sakikabara (Japan)

Japan are currently taking part in the Asian Games in China. The defending champions got off to a flying start with 8-0 win over Bangladesh and another 8-0 victory against Nepal. These two matches provided the opportunity for a number of Sud Ladies Cup 2023 winners to make their senior international debut : Momoko Tanikawa, Kotono Sakikabara and Toko Koga all made their first appearance for the Nadeshiko. The first two even scored one and three goals respectively in these two matches.
Meanwhile, Wakaba Goto, Haruna Tabata and Haruka Osawa, runners-up at the Sud Ladies Cup 2019, also made their debut for Japan's senior team during these games.

Sherline King (Panama) 

Just a few weeks after their historic participation in the World Cup, Panama began their qualifying campaign for the next Gold Cup perfectly, beating Guatemala 3-0. It was a victory in which 17-year-old Sherline King celebrated her first senior cap, just a few months after taking part in the Sud Ladies Cup 2023.

Kum Hyang-Ri, Kyong-Yong Kim, Song Ae-Pong and Su-Jong Ri (DPR Korea) 

After four years of sporting isolation, the North Korean football team made its comeback on the international stage over the last few days at the Asian Games in China. North Korea marked its football comeback with a massive double victory (7-0 and then... 10-0!) over Singapore. The double-header also saw several winners of the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 earn their first senior caps: Kum Hyang-Ri, Kyong-Yong Kim, Song Ae-Pong and Su-Jong Ri.
Already impressive at the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 (top scorer of the competition with 5 goals), Kyong-Yong Kim has clearly not lost her eye for goal, as she found the net 6 times against Singapore, making her the top scorer at the Asian Games so far !

Ines Maague and Brenda Tabe (Cameroon) 

The new coach of the Indomitable Lionesses, Jean-Baptiste Bisseck, took advantage of the double-header against Kenya in the qualifiers for the next Africa Cup of Nations to launch a number of youngsters spotted at the Sud Ladies Cup 2023.

Defender Ines Maague and goalscorer Brenda Tabe have won their first caps for Cameroon's senior national team. It's a personal satisfaction with a slightly bitter taste, however: after winning the first leg (1-0), the Cameroonians were eliminated in the second leg in Kenya (0-1, 3-4 penalties) and will therefore not be taking part in the CAN in 2024 in Morocco.
