The Toulon Tournament earned the “Legend” label from the Marseille European Capital of Sport
It’s a real pride ! Supported by the city of Aubagne, the Toulon Tournament staff was at the Parc Chanot on this Monday to take part in the Marseille European Capital of Sport first meeting.
The Marseille European Capital of Sport supervisors have received around 700 project requests in one year and they have approved 400 of them. “We had to review each project. Then, we had a lot of meetings to determine the label qualities”, said Richard Miron, the City of Marseille Sports executive secretary.
There are five labels : Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Legend. The Toulon Tournament earned the "Legend" label thanks to his worldwide reputation ! It’s a reward for our competition which revealed around 1700 international players. Also, It should be noted that from now on our competition will be named “Maurice Revello Tournament” in tribute to the founder who passed away this year.
Once again, we want to thank the City of Aubagne, the Mayor Gérard Gazay, his deputy Pascal Agostini and the Sports Department chaired by Marc Franco and Maud Astier as they are behind this reward. Thanks to the City of Aubagne, the City of Marseille, the CG13 and the Region for their support. We will offer them an exciting tournament next year (May 29 – June 10) with twelve national teams.
