Portugal rule out Paraguay and qualify for third place play-off !
Portugal get a dream start, by scoring two goals in the six first minutes. After a foul on the box on Pereira, the referee gave a penalty to Portugal. Rodrigues took it and gave the lead to his team (1-0, 4'). Only two minutes later, Silva escaped in Paraguay defense, dribbling through two defenders, and concluded his rush by a lob shot (2-0, 6'). Wonderful. Paraguay surely didn't expect this kind of start. Carlos Paredes' team tried to react but struggled to create chances. Britez was near to score, but his shot after a cross missed the net (28').
But Paraguay made another big mistake just after the break. Paniagua did a foul on Joao Silva and Portugal get a second penalty. A gift for Rodrigues, who offered himself a brace (3-0, 47'). Enough to make Portugal finish at the second spot of the group. Edgar Borges' team will play the third place play-off against Czech Republic on Sunday, before the final !
