In 2014, Portugal finished third of the Toulon Tournament and Helder Costa has produced some promising displays. Three years later, it looks like he his eventually fulfilling his potential. After two frustrating loan spells at Deportivo La Coruna (2014-2015 season) and then AS Monaco (2015-2016 season), the 23-year-old attacking midfielder was loaned out by Benfica to Wolverhampton during the last summer.
Since joining the Championship side, Helder Costa is shining and established himself as a key player for the Wolves. The Portuguese winger has already netted 8 goals and delivered 5 assists in 26 league games. Meanwhile, Costa helped the Wolves to reach the FA Cup fifth round after an impressive performance against Liverpool (2-1) in the previous round : during this game, Costa delivered two assists and has been a consistent threat.
Two days after his display against Liverpool, Wolverhampton have announced that they have signed Helder Costa on a permanent deal. The Wolves have broken the club record as the transfer fee is believed to be around €16M ! Helder Costa has became one of Wolverhamption's most important players. Now, he has to maintain his fine form and justify the faith and confidence shown in him by the Championship side.
