More than 1700 international players took part in the Toulon Tournament founded in 1967 by Maurice Revello. Many of these players have enjoyed a successful career . Ahead of the 45th edition of the Toulon Tournament (29 May-10 June), we unveil you the best 100 players in the Toulon Tournament history. On the 4th spot, Hristo Stoichkov.

Hristo Stoichkov’s legendary status and standing as one of the greatest players of the modern era is cemented by his collection of titles. However, few people know that the former Bulgaria international played the Toulon Tournament. It was in 1987 and at that moment, Stoichkov was still playing in his native country at CSKA Sofia.
Three years after the Toulon Tournament, Stoichkov has joined FC Barcelona where he has enjoyed the best moments of his career. With the Catalan club, Stoichkov has clinched five Liga titles as well as the Champion’s League in 192.
Named Ballon d’Or 1994
Very gifted, Stoichkov led Bulgaria to their best performance at the international level. In 1994, the Bulgarians reached the World-Cup semi-finals and Stoichkov played a pivotal role with 6 gaols scored during the competition.
Few months after his sensational performance in the World Cup, Stoichkov has earned the Ballon d’Or 1994. To his day, he is the only Bulgarian player to have won this award. A real world-class player !
