Toulon Tournament 2017 best XI

The 45th edition of the Toulon Tournament was thrilling with more than 60 goals scored. Like every year, many players distinguished themselves throughout the competition. Find out below who has been named in our best XI.

Luke Pilling (Wales) : The Tranmere Rovers goalkeeper has been impervious as he kept two clean sheets in three games during the group stage. The 19-year-old was particularly impressive against France (0-0).

Reece James (England) : The Chelsea FC right-back has emerged as one of the best players of this 45th edition. James has delivered two assists during the competition and has impressed by his activity on the right wing. As a reminder, he is only 17 !

Joe Worrall (England) : Named second best player of the tournament, the Nottingham Forest defender has shown many confidence at the back. The England captain has produced several convincing performances and established himself as the leader of the Young Three Lions.

Souleymane Diaby (Ivory Coast) : The Ivorian captain was at the heart of the robust Ivorian back line. Diaby established himself as a key player for the African side thanks to his defensive abilities and his versatility.

Greg Taylor (Scotland) : Named fourth best player of the tournament, the Scottish left-back was solid defensively and a threat going forward. The Kilmarnock player has also helped his side to earn an historic win against Brazil in the group stage as he netted the winning goal.

Michal Sadilek (Czech Republic) : The vision, the creativity and the work rate of the PSV player helped Czech Republic to finish fourth. He is only 18 but he has already the ability to make the game look so simple

Harvey Barnes (England) : Joint-top scorer of the competition with four goals, the English midfielder was impressive during this Toulon Tournament 2017. He is a complete player capable of playing in several positions. He has been a joy to watch !

George Thomas (Wales) : He was without doubt one of the best players of the Wales squad. The attacking midfielder distinguished himself by his tireless running and his technical abilities. He has scored two goals in three games.

David Brooks (England) : The gifted England midfielder has been named best player of the tournament and he is obviously selected in our best XI. Every time the Sheffield United gets the ball he looks like he is going to hurt the opposition. He has been consistent during the whole competition.

Jean Amani (Ivory Coast) : After a convincing season with the Belgian First Division side KAS Eupen, the Ivorian attacking midfielder has confirmed his good form during the Toulon Tournament. Amani has scored two goals throughout the competition and was named third best player of the competition.

George Hirst (England) : After a fantastic season with Sheffield Wednesday, the 18-year-old has confirmed his goal scoring form during the Toulon Tournament 2017 as he finished as the joint-top scorer of the competition with four goals including a stunning hat trick against Cuba.
