After taking part in the Toulon Tournament 2004, Jô has played in different countries : in England (Manchester City, Everton), in Russia (CSKA Moscow), in Turkey (Galatasaray), in United Arab Emirates (Al Shabab) and in China (Jiangsu Suning). After these different experiences, the Brazilian striker has decided to come back to the place where it all started as he joined Corinthians on January.
The 30-year-old player has obviously made the right choice as he got back to his best. Corinthians boast a ten-point lead over Gremio atop the Brazilian league table with 14 games remaining.
The Brazil international (20 international caps, 5 goals) has played a pivotal role in the Corinthians title run this season as he is the Brazilian League current second top-scorer with 13 goals in 23 games.
The star of the Timao has publicly claimed his ambition to get a recall to the Brazil national team. “The way I'm playing with Corinthians, I think I'm very close. I'm different now : more mature, more patient. If I stay at this level, an opportunity will come, even if I have to wait until just before the World Cup. It all depends on me", he said this summer.
To keep his World Cup 2018 dream alive, Jô has to maintain his goalscoring form in the upcoming months.
