After impressing at the Toulon Tournament 2016, Diadié Samassekou continues to prove he is one of the Mali’s brightest young talents.
The 21-year-old midfielder has established himself as a regular for Red Bull Salzburg since the last season and he is set to play a more prominent role with his national team in the upcoming months.
This season, Samassekou has already started 18 games in all competitions with Salzburg. This playing time shows that the Malian has become an essential part of the Austrian side. He has notably distinguished himself this season in the Europa League with a stunning assist against Vitoria Guimaraes (1-1) on September.
His performances with RB Salzburg can allow him to cement his place in the Mali squad. The African nation could no longer qualify for the next World Cup and some emerging youngsters are brought in progressively in the Mali squad to prepare the future. Including Samassekou who earned his fourth international cap with The Aigles on this week-end during the 0-0 draw against Ivory Coast in the World Cup 2018 qualifiers.
