After enjoying a successful 2016-2017 season on a collective and personal level with Universidad de Chile, Felipe Mora has faced a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury that forced him to miss the Confederations Cup with Chile. A huge disappointment for the 24-year-old who missed the opportunity to make his international debut with his country.
Meanwhile, Felipe Mora (who played the Toulon Tournament 2014) has decided to join the Mexican side Cruz Azul during the summer. It means that the Santiago de Chile-born was facing two challenges over the last months : recovering from his injury and adapting quickly to the Mexican league.
It’s fair to say that the Chilean forward has met the expectations. With 8 goal scored in 16 Liga MX games, Felipe Mora helped Cruz Azul advance to La Liguilla (the playoffs of the Mexican league).
Cruz Azul are not among the bookmakers’ favourites to win the Mexican league but everything seems possible for the Mexico-based club with a striker like Felipe Mora in their ranks. The Chilean forward can become a hero if he helps Cruz Azul to clinch their first Liga MX title since 1997….
