Alisson Becker has become a fan favourite at AS Roma
Being the Brazil starting goalkeeper and being a perennial substitute at club level : that was the situation of Alisson Becker during the last campaign.
The 25-year-old keeper, who joined AS Roma in 2016 from Internacional Porto Alegre, hasn’t played a single minute in Serie A in the 2016-2017 season and has only featured in the Italian Cup games as well as in the European competitions.
The Toulon Tournament 2013 winner admitted that it was difficult. “Let’s say that I learned to have a bit of patience”, he said recently to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The Brazil international (22 caps) has eventually benefited from the departure of the starting goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny to establish himself as a regular for AS Roma. “If I hadn’t had the guarantee of playing, I would have asked to leave Roma”, he revealed.
The Brazilian has decided to stay and has quickly become a fan favourite at AS Roma thanks to his fantastic displays. He has notably shone against Atletico Madrid (0-0) in the Champion’s League.
Alisson Becker has also distinguished himself in the Italian league : Roma boast the best defense (only ten goals conceded) since the start to the season and can thank his goalkeeper who kept 7 seven clean sheets…
