Akinobou Youkouchi (Japan head coach) : « A disappointing result »
After the draw against Canada (1-1), Japan are eliminated of the tournament. The head coach Akinobou Youkouchi, expressed his disappointment.
"Our first goal in this tournament was to reach the semi-finals. Before to enter on the pitch today, we had a possibility to do it, but it is a huge experience to have played this competition. We did some long preparations and the players were hoping the semi-finals. It's a very disappointing result. We can regret the first game.
In first half, we kept the ball and the players didn't try enough. We couldn't create goal situations. That is a point we have to improve absolutely. It is firstly related to the technical abilities but also the mental, because they prefer to pass instead of shot. They don't take the initiative enough.
They are not satisfied with their games, they wanted to do better."
