China have been beaten by Portugal (0-2) and finished at the 10th place of the Maurice Revello Tournament with a record of one draw and three defeats. After the game, the head coach Sun Jihai reflects on the performance made by his squad.
“The second half was better than the first half. The team spirit was better. For sure, there’s still a big gap between us and our opponents. But if you are working hard, if you are fighting for every opportunity, you’ll reduce this gap.
Also, I think that the football rules are the same in the world, so we should have two penalties. We hit the post as well.
We don’t have too much time to prepare, to make the 20 players look like a team. That’s the biggest problem. We tried to do our best and you don’t have to forget that the players travelled a long distance to take part in this competition.
I’ll keep every moment of this tournament. The boys don’t have the chance to face teams of this quality, so that’s good for them."
