Eduardo Lara Aguirre (Mexico head coach) : “I have this record on my mind”
By scoring a hat-trick, Eduardo Aguirre helped Mexico to clinch a 3-1 win over Turkey during the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018 semi-finals. The 19-year-old striker took his tally to 7 goals. Thanks to his performance, the Mexican youngster has matched the goal total for a single Maurice Revello Tournament edition. Only Alan Shearer (1991) and Marco Fabian (2012) did that before.
“I’m delighted with the team’s behavior. We were very united. Reaching the final was our main goal and we did it. I’m happy to score three goals in the same game.
Of course, a striker wants always to find the net but, yes, I have this record on my mind. Firstly, I want to see my team earn the win.
During the whole week, we have analyzed the Turkish style of play and we say that they are aggressive on the pitch. We’ve had to avoid this trap thanks to our self-control. We will give everything during the final and will try to clinch the title.”
