David Brooks, who joined Bournemouth this summer from Sheffield United, has adapted quickly to the Premier League. Meanwhile, he’s also cementing his place in the Wales national team. The Maurice Revello Tournament 2017 best player, who’s only 21, seems to have a bright future ahead of him.
« He’s the sort of player you’d pay to go and watch. He gets you off your seat, takes players on. He’ll just get better and better”. The Wales head coach Ryan Giggs is full of praise for his player David Brooks.
And for good reason as the Maurice Revello Tournament 2017 best player is living an astonishing rise. Signed by Bournemouth this summer in a €13,5M-deal, the 21-year-old attacking midfielder has produced a string of strong displays with the Cherries, currently sixth in the Premier League.
The young Welsh international (7 cap) has notably been named October's Player of the Month by the Bournemouth fans. During this period, the former Manchester City trainee has netted a stunner against Crystal Palace. Then, he found net the net against both Watford and Fulham.
“The biggest compliment I can give him is that he hasn’t been fazed at all by the step up in league. He has trained as normal and when he has been given opportunities, he has had the same mentality. I’ve been really pleased and the future is very bright for him”, said recently the Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe.
Now, Brooks has to produce this kind of performance on the international scene. The context seems favourable to his development as the Wales head coach Ryan Giggs gave him a lot of playing time since his international debut made on October 2017 against France (0-2).
The former Manchester United legend seems confident about the David Brooks’ future. “He’s scoring goals now and I think he’s at a brilliant club under a brilliant manager and he’s got the platform to show what ability he’s got. He can be what he wants to be. He’s enjoying his football and I think everyone’s enjoying watching him.”
Brooks has the opportunity to repay the faith shown in him by Giggs during this international break as Wales will face Denmark (16th November) in the Nations League before playing a friendly against Albania (20th November).
