2022 FIFA World Cup - Matchday 2 : how did the Tournament almunis perform ?

THEY SHINED
After a frustrating first match against the Netherlands in the matchday 1 of group A (0-2), Senegal beat Qatar on Friday (3-1) and are still in the race for qualification. A success allowed in part by their pair of centre backs 100% former Tournament Maurice Revello, composed of Kalidou Koulibaly (Tournament 2011) and Abdou Diallo (Tournament 2016). The two defenders put in solid performances to help their team beat the host nation's team and play a last game for the qualification against Ecuador on Tuesday.
In group F, the big performance of this matchday 2 came from Morocco, winner against Belgium (2-0). The Atlas Lions have delivered a match full of intensity and self-sacrifice to overcome the favorite of their group. Nayef Aguerd was one of the men of the match for Morocco. The runner-up of the Maurice Revello Tournament in 2015 was never caught out, even proving to be skilful and intelligent with his passing. In group H, South Korea could not avoid defeat against Ghana (2-3). Despite a two goals deficit at the break, the South Koreans managed to get back on level terms within three minutes thanks in particular to Kang-In Lee. The player who passed through the Tournament in 2018 came on in the 57th minute and first delivered an assist to Gue-Sung Cho a few seconds later to reduce the gap. The same Cho then equalised, before Ghana regained the lead. South Korea's siege of the Ghanaian camp until the final whistle was not enough. But the Mallorca attacking midfielder, who has been a source of many of his team's chances, made an impressive entrance and could well be in the starting line-up for the final group game against Portugal.
Finally, still in group F, Portugal validated their ticket to round of sixteen by beating Uruguay (2-0). Bruno Fernandes, who scored twice, was the main architect of this deserved success. The midfielder, who played in the Tournament in 2014, scored twice, first from an off-centre free-kick that no-one touched and which ended up in the back of the net, and then from a penalty kick at the end of the match.
