Panama and France win for their start... Group A - Matchday 1 recap

The opening day of the 2025 Maurice Revello Tournament unfolded today at Stade Parsemain in Fos-sur-Mer, featuring two engaging Group A matches.
In the first match, Panama secured a 2–1 victory over Mali. Despite Mali's early dominance and attacking intent, Panama capitalized on their opportunities. Gustavo Herrera converted a penalty in the 21st minute after Raheen Cuello was fouled. Shortly after halftime, Cuello extended the lead with a powerful shot aided by the crossbar. Mali's persistent efforts were rewarded late in the game when Wilson Samaké scored a header in the 89th minute, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome. Panama's experience and efficiency proved decisive in this closely contested match.
The second fixture saw France edge out Saudi Arabia with a 2–1 win. France's forwards, particularly Ngoura, frequently challenged the Saudi defense, though initial attempts were thwarted by offside calls. The match remained goalless for the first ten minutes, with France's attacking pressure eventually breaking through. The French team demonstrated resilience and tactical discipline, securing a crucial victory to commence their tournament campaign on a positive note.
These results position Panama and France favorably in Group A as the tournament progresses.
