Sergio Romero, passé par le Festival en 2006, a été élu homme du match de cette demi-finale. Le portier argentin s’est montré décisif en détournant deux tentatives néerlandaises lors des tirs au but. Un grand moment pour Sergio Romero qui a été souvent remplaçant avec l’AS Monaco, cette saison.
L’Argentine atteint la finale de la Coupe du Monde en ayant gardé ses cages inviolées quatre fois durant la compétition. Une solidité défensive incarnée notamment par Javier Mascherano, passé par le Festival en 2003. Le joueur du FC Barcelone réalise un très bon Mondial et assume complètement son statut d’homme clé au sein de l’Albiceleste.
« El Jefecito » (le petit chef) et ses coéquipiers sont à un match du sacre suprême. Pour monter sur le toit du monde, l’Argentine devra faire face à l’Allemagne, auteur d’une prestation stratosphérique lors de sa demi-finale face au Brésil (7-1).

The Festival International Espoirs will be represented on the pitch during the World Cup 2014 final thanks to Argentina. Alejandro Sabella’s team eliminated Netherlands during the penalty kicks (0-0, 4-2 PSO).
Sergio Romero, who took part in the Toulon Tournament in 2006, was named man of the match of this semi-final. The Argentinian goalkeeper was decisive with two saves during the penalty shootout. It’s obviously a big moment for Sergio Romero who was often a substitute with AS Monaco during the last season.
Argentina reaches the World Cup final with four clean sheets during the tournament. This defensive solidity is represented in part by Javier Mascherano, who took part in the Festival in 2003. The FC Barcelona player is an Albiceleste key player for many years and he confirms that during the World Cup with good performances.
« El Jefecito » (the little chief) and his teammates have to face an impressive opponent during the final. Germany destroyed Brazil (7-1) to reach the final.
