Marie-Antoinette Katoto called up to the France squad for the first time
This a long-awaited and a fully deserved reward. Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who took part in the Sud Ladies Cup 2018, has been handed her first France call-up. The 20-year-old striker has been selected for the friendly against Brazil (10th November).
The Paris Saint-Germain starlet is the French league’s current top scorer with nine goals netted in seven games. Since the start to the season, she’s is proving why she’s rated as one of the best young talents in France.
“I haven’t discussed with Marie-Antoinette ahead of the unveiling of the list. I’ll see her next week. However, I have spoken to the PSG coach Olivier Echouafni. I think today is the right moment to select her. She’s in good form, she’s feeling better. She’s smiling after scoring a goal. This is the moment for her to try to force her way into the team”, said the France head coach Corinne Diacre.
It should be noted that another youngster seen during the Sud Ladies Cup 2018 has been selected by Diacre : the Olympique Lyon forward Emelyne Laurent.
