At only 16, Mariel Roman took the Liga MX Femenil by storm. A talent seen at the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 last May…

Who can claim to have scored 20 goals in the top-flight at only 16 ? Very few people. Mariel Roman is one of the exceptions.

If the Mexican youngster has shown glimpses of her talent at the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 by scoring notably a brace against Gabon (10-0), it’s in the Liga MX where she made a name for herself.

For her first year in the Mexican top-flight, during the Apertura 2018, she scored 11 goals in 15 games ! She struggled then during the Clausura 2019 as she found the net only twice but she bounced back after participating at the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 with “El Tri”.

She has netted 7 goals in 14 appearances in this Apertura 2019 which is the best tally of a Toluca player ! It’s enough to say that the Mexican wonderkid played a pivotal role in the good performances made by her team so far : with four games remaining, Toluca is currently sitting at one of the eight qualifying spots for the Liga MX playoffs.
